The 2% Fund (Provident Fund for Local Authorities) was established by collective bargaining.
The Fund does not discriminate on the base of race, sex or trade union affiliation. Membership is a condition of service and therefore compulsory within all participating councils.
With the establishment of the Retirement Fund on 1 June 1997, the 2% Fund became a category within the Retirement Fund. Members of the 2% Fund then became Category A-members of the Retirement Fund, without prejudice or any change in their benefits or status.
